“Let me tell you about Sweden
Only country where the clouds are interesting
Big brother says it’s the place to go”
The Stranglers ‘Sweden (All Quiet On The Eastern Front)’

So the ‘Brexit’ vote is finally over and the British majority have chosen to leave the European Union. Who knows where we go from here? Will things ever be the same again? Time will tell.

Looking through my folders of images today, I realised that I haven’t actually worked with many European models. But one that stands out is Chivone. An absolutely charming young lady and a blonde-haired, blue-eyed native of Sweden. It was a fun shoot, with Chivone smiling and laughing all the way through, her blue eyes sparkling. I’d photograph her again anytime.

Sweden

The song lyric above is from a song on The Stranglers’ ‘Black and White’ album, released in 1978. I’m feeling old now, but as a youngster I remember my big brother Philip playing this album over and over so many times that the songs stuck in my head and became part of my childhood that I’ll never forget.

Sweden is also home to one of my favourite pop groups Roxette, and I’ve been playing their brand new album ‘Good Karma’ almost non-stop in the car during the last two weeks. A fantastic new album, topped off by what must surely be a modern classic Roxette song ‘It Just Happens’. Check out the video on Youtube.

And talking of great Swedish music how can we not mention ABBA? Or Ace of Base? Or Europe’s smash hit number one ‘The Final Countdown’?

“I guess there is no one to blame
We’re leaving ground (leaving ground)
Will things ever be the same again?
It’s the final countdown.”

” Black & White ” was the first album I bought with my own money!
Good to see you regularly updating your blogs again and I’ve already made a note in my calendar of your talk on Studio Photography at ADAPS on 13th October. I look forward to it.
    Regards,
    Phil.
